Covid-19: A total 2,356 new cases, nine deaths reported

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia reported 2,356 new Covid-19 cases, 1,875 recoveries and nine deaths on Thursday.

The new cases consist of 775 in Selangor, 479 in Kuala Lumpur, 227 in Sabah, 175 in Perak, 127 in Negri Sembilan, 104 in Penang, 97 in Melaka, 86 in Johor, 62 in Sarawak, 59 in Pahang, 49 in Kelantan, 42 in Kedah, 28 in Terengganu, 25 in Putrajaya, 11 in Labuan and 10 in Perlis.

The nine deaths which included three brought-in-dead (BID) cases included three in Selangor, two in Sarawak, and one each in Pahang, Perlis, Penang, and Sabah.

Two of the BID cases were reported in Selangor and another was is Penang.

A total 4,784,980 Covid-19 cases were recorded in Malaysia up to Thursday.

Of the number, 4,717,292 cases recovered, 36,225 individuals succumbed to the virus, while 31,463 are currently infected.

Some 30,084 cases are undergoing home quarantine, 1,285 patients are hospitalised, 74 cases are treated at intensive care units (ICU) while 20 are isolated at Covid-19 quarantine and treatment centres (PKRC).

Yesterday, 375 Covid-19 cases were admitted to hospitals. As of Thursday, 21.2 per cent of Covid-19 beds, 19.8 per cent of ICU beds and 24.3 per cent of PKRC beds are utilised.

The national positivity rate stood at 7.7 per cent on Aug 30.
