Covid-19 cases cross 2,000 mark yesterday

KUALA LUMPUR: Daily Covid-19 cases increased to 2,067 on Tuesday, taking the cumulative toll to 4,795,009.

Daily cases stayed below the 2,000 mark on Sunday and Monday with 1,904 cases and 1,486 respectively.

Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, and Putrajaya recorded 589, 454 and 49 cases respectively yesterday, contributing to more than half of the daily cases.

Other cases were 160 in Sabah, 145 in Perak, 132 in Sarawak, 90 in Negri Sembilan, 80 in Kedah, 74 in Melaka, 69 in Johor, 67 in Kelantan, 62 each in Pahang and Penang, 27 in Terengganu, four in Labuan and three in Perlis.

Also reported to the Health Ministry yesterday were 2,279 recoveries and six deaths including one brought-in-dead case in Kuala Lumpur.

As of Sept 6; 4,731,426 Covid-19 patients recovered, 36,255 died and 27,328 others are currently infected.

Of the active cases, 25,963 individuals are undergoing home quarantine, 1,277 cases are receiving treatment at hospitals, 69 cases are warded at intensive care units and 19 cases are being monitored at Covid-19 quarantine and treatment centres.

Forty ICU cases are ventilated, while some 417 cases were admitted to hospital yesterday.

The national positivity rate stood at 7.6 per cent on Sept 4 with 22,123 reported to the Health Ministry.
