Anglers discover old bomb at recreational spot

HULU SELANGOR: Two anglers fishing at the Sungai Kedondong recreational spot on Wednesday snagged a different kind of catch when they reeled in an old bomb, dating back to the Japanese occupation days.

District police chief Superintendent Suffian Abdullah said one of them, a 42-year-old trader, lodged a report at the Goh Tong Jaya police station yesterday.

"Our investigations found that it is an inactive, old bomb partly buried in the ground near the river bank.

"The bomb was dropped from a plane during the Japanese occupation. It weighs 50 kilogrammes and measured 42 inches in diameter and length.

"A team from the Bukit Aman bomb squad as well as the Selangor police contingent headquarters destroyed the bomb at 2.50pm today," he said.
