PM: Lower toll charges for six major highways

SHAH ALAM: The government has agreed to restructure four highway concessionaires and reduce toll rates for highways under Projek Lintasan Kota Holdings Sdn Bhd (Prolintas).

Caretaker Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the highways involved include the Ampang-Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway (Akleh); Guthrie Corridor Expressway (GCE); Kemuning-Shah Alam Highway (LKSA); and the Kajang Silk Highway (SILK).

"It will be enforced starting Oct 20, at 12.01am," he said in his speech when launching the Damansara-Shah Alam (Dash) Highway here, today.

Ismail Sabri said the toll reduction for Kajang–Seremban (Lekas) and Sungai Besi (Besraya) highways under IJM Corporation Bhd, meanwhile, would begin Jan 1, 2023.

"To accommodate the high traffic and to reduce congestion on the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Highway from the Gombak Toll Plaza to the Bentong Toll Plaza, the government will build an additional lane and a new tunnel at Genting Sempah.

"At the same time, flood mitigation works on the East Coast Expressway Phase 1 (LPT1) would also be implemented following frequent flooding incidents there," he added.
