Pas describes video on oath for vote cash as slanderous

KOTA BARU: Pas Kelantan has described claims that it had ordered voters to take oath and cast their ballot paper for the Islamic party in the 15th General Election, as slander.

Denying the allegation, State Pas secretary Wan Roslan Wan Hamat said the party had never taken such a approach on voters who returned to vote in Kelantan in the general election.

He also described the allegation made public from a video clip which had since gone viral on social media platforms as being baseless.

"Pas is only helping voters from out-of-state return to vote in Kelantan and bore their travel costs, especially those who are not afforded to pay their fare

"This is aimed at easing their burden (voters) and the return fare is given to all those who are eligible for it, regardless of which party they had voted for," he said when contacted.

Wan Roslan said Pas had never instructed voters to swear in the name of Allah.

"We were just helping those who lived outside Kelantan to return to the state to fulfill their voting responsibilities.

"We are not bothered, nor did we ask them which party they had voted for in the election," he added.

The 59-second video clip showed a man in a room with some youths. The man was heard calling them out by name individually and allegedly asking them to swear in the name of Allah that they voted for Pas before handing them the money.
