KUALA LUMPUR: Daredevil couple Ivan Beerkus and Angela Nikolau confirmed their climb at the top of Merdeka 118 tower which is still under construction in their latest Instagram post today.
Beerkus posted a video of the duo on the spire of the tower despite Malaysian police yesterday saying an investigation will be done due to their alleged trespassing action.
"The top of Merdeka 118 (679m/2,227 ft). It's the second-tallest building in the world! I cannot describe my emotions," Beerkus wrote.
The posting drew ire from Malaysian users commenting that the duo, famous for scaling skyscrapers across the globe, were disrespecting another country's rules by trespassing on an active construction site.
Nikolau also posted a video of her sitting on top of Merdeka 118 on her Instagram account.
"I have climbed the second highest building in the world - MERDEKA TOWER! That's the most beautiful skyscraper I've ever been," she wrote.
Yesterday, Yahaya confirmed to the New Straits Times that the couple will be called in to have their statements recorded and would be investigated under the Penal Code for trespassing.
On Wednesday, pictures of the couple at the top of Merdeka 118 were uploaded by the former to SkyscraperCity.com. The pictures made it to the Malaysian community subreddit on reddit.com
