PUTRAJAYA: The government will waive toll payments on Jan 20 and 21 in conjunction with Chinese New Year, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at a press conference today.
He said this would cost the government RM40 million.
He said the waivers would ease the burden of those returning to their hometown.
"Our reminder is for the people to be careful on the road, follow the rules and avoid accidents.
"After those two dates, please pay."
Present were Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Transport Minister Anthony Loke, Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi and Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil.
Earlier, he chaired a cabinet meeting at Perdana Putra.
