PM Anwar performs Friday prayers at Khalid Al-Walid Mosque

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim performed Friday prayers at the Khalid Al-Walid Mosque here today.

Anwar, who was accompanied by Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, arrived at the mosque at about 1.20pm.

Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad; Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali and Armed Forces Chief, General Tan Sri Affendi Buang also performed prayers there.

Anwar, together with thousands of other worshippers, listened to the sermon entitled 'Amanat MenHan (Menteri Pertahanan) Citra Murni Hasrat Perdana Menteri' delivered by Armed Forces Religious Corps director-general Major General Datuk Mohd Rashidi Bujai.

Rashidi said the entire framework of the Armed Forces organisation needs to work together in pursuit of excellence and glory in the public service in line with the Malaysia Madani concept introduced by Anwar.

The prayers were led by Lieutenant Colonel Mohd Nizam Termizi.

After the prayers, Anwar, clad in a green 'Baju Melayu', shook hands and mingled with members of the congregation.

Earlier, he enjoyed lunch at the Famous D'KL stall located in front of the mosque and spent about half an hour mingling with the people. – Bernama
