Housewives Social Security Scheme to be launched during MYFutureJobs Career Carnival 2023

KUALA LUMPUR: The Human Resources Ministry, through the Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) will be launching the Housewives Social Security Scheme during the MYFutureJobs Career Carnival 2023 on Feb 11 and 12.

The event will introduce the scheme to the public and conduct large scale job interviews for job seekers.

The two-day programme is expected to be launched by Prime Minister Datuk seri Anwar Ibrahim at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre and more than 5,000 job seekers, housewives, women and non-governmental organisations are expected to attend.

"The ministry and Perkeso welcome the presence of the prime minister, which shows the government's support for the efforts to develop a comprehensive and inclusive social safety net in Malaysia," read the statement.

The statement added that the public can interact directly with Perkeso to learn about and better understand the scheme and its benefits, get advice on it and register for it at the stalls provided.

Husbands and other parties, such as non-governmental organisations or private companies, are also encouraged to sponsor contributions on behalf of housewives.

"The Housewives Social Security Scheme, which was implemented on Dec 1 last year, offers benefits under Domestic Disaster Protection and Disability Protection such as medical and permanent disability benefits, disability allowance, corpse management benefits and bereavement pension.

"The protection scheme, which is under the Housewives Social Security Act 2022 (Act 838), is open to local women and permanent residents who are less than 55 years old and manage a household full-time or part-time."

Meanwhile, the MYFutureJobs Career Carnival 2023 is the first large-scale carnival for this year organised by Perkeso to increase people's chances of obtaining quality jobs, reduce the unemployment rate and strengthen the labor market.

The carnival will run from 9am to 5pm and offers more than 13,000 job opportunities, including 20 per cent of which are open to the disabled, from 140 companies across various sectors and industries.

The carnival will see the involvement of large employers such as Maybank, Bank Simpanan Nasional, EXIM Bank, KTM Malaysia, ExxonMobil, UMW, UOA Group and Avisena Healthcare.

There will also be employment service activities free of charge, including resume preparation, MYFutureJobs portal registration, as well as career guidance and advice.

The statement said the carnival was an ongoing effort by the ministry through Perkeso to create sustainable job opportunities for all Malaysians, including vulnerable groups such as the disabled.

"Perkeso calls on all housewives and job seekers nationwide to take advantage of this opportunity by visiting the Housewives Social Security Scheme's launch and the MYFutureJobs 2023 Career Carnival this weekend," read the statement.
