BENTONG: The identities of two women involved in the Genting tourist van mishap near Bentong yesterday were mixed up after one of them was carrying the MyKad belonging to the other person.

Pahang police chief Datuk Seri Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf said Goh Siew Kim, 61, who was reported dead yesterday was receiving treatment at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital(HKL) while the dead victim had been identified as 83-year-old Wong Ah Moi @ Wong Seh Moi.

He said yesterday, the list of the seven deceased were identified as Chang Them Kong, 70, Wong Choun Chiet, 49, along with five female passengers Foong Ah Lan, 67; Lee Moy, 67; Goh Siew Kim, 61; Ang Meng Hong, 62, and Seow Mee Tin, 72.

"Police performed another round of checks after all the victims' families arrived at the hospitals to identify their family members involved in the crash. Checks revealed Goh is among the victims who were still receiving treatment at HKL

"Another victim identified as Wong Ah Moi @ Wong Seh Moi died in the accident. She was holding the MyKad belonging to Goh," he said, adding the death toll remained unchanged.

Ramli urged the public not to speculate on the accident, saying the police were still investigating the matter.

In the 1.15pm accident yesterday, the tourist van skidded and crashed into a road divider at Km4.8 of Jalan Genting Highlands.

Fourteen people were travelling in the vehicle, including tour van driver Wong, his assistant, and 12 female passengers aged between 49 and 83 years old.

They were returning to Penang from Genting Highlands when the accident occurred.

Earlier today, Ramli was reported saying six passengers in the tourist van accident were in critical condition. Five of the women were warded at the intensive care unit of HKL while another was at the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital in Temerloh.

He said the seventh victim was warded in HKL and her condition had been described as non-critical.
