Umno promises to solve water woe if it takes back Kelantan

KOTA BARU: Umno pledges to ensure piped water in Kelantan is clean and safe if takes over the state from Pas.

Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said he was confident that Kelantan Umno was capable of solving the water woes in the state.

"If Kelantan Umno takes over the state either in the next general election or the upcoming state elections, we will continue with the good policies introduced by the Pas-led government.

"We will also ensure water problems faced by the people here can be solved.

"Umno will try to settle the problems and give the water supply that is clean and safe for consumption. Therefore, give us a chance to rule Kelantan," said Zahid at a press conference here today to introduce the candidates running for the posts of permanent chairman, permanent deputy chairman, vice-president and Supreme Council members (MT) in the Umno election this Saturday.

He said this was among the promises given by Kelantan Umno if the party wrests the state from Pas in the next five years.

Kelantan has been ruled by Pas for more than 30 years and since then, locals were facing water issues.

Some claimed that the water pressure in their vicinity was low, while others claimed that the water was murky and unsafe for consumption.
