Two Sabah politicians appointed senators to the parliament

KOTA KINABALU: Two Sabahan politicians have been appointed as senators to the parliament.

The first is former foreign minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman who expressed his appreciation to Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim over the appointment.

In a statement, the former Kimanis member of parliament said that he was grateful for the opportunity to serve the country and the people of Malaysia in his new capacity as a senator.

He expressed his commitment to upholding the principles of democracy, good governance and the rule of law.

In a separate release, Sabah DAP vice chairman Noorita Sual said she was thankful for the appointment and honoured to be given another chance to be part of the parliament.

The former Tenom member of parliament, 43, thanked the National DAP Secretary General Anthony Loke, party leadership and the grassroots who placed their trust for her to represent DAP at the legislative level.

Noorita added that she would focus on empowering women to defend their rights, increasing the percentage of women's involvement at various levels and fields, the protection and welfare of children and the elderly among others.
