Veteran journalist appointed as PM's media and strategic communications director

KUALA LUMPUR: Veteran journalist Rozaid Abdul Rahman has been appointed as Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's media and strategic communications director.

The 58-year-old clocked in for work at the Prime Minister's Office in Putrajaya this morning.

He replaces Datuk Wan Nurzila Wan Abd Rahman, whose service ended earlier this month.

Rozaid has held positions in "The Star'' as the content executive officer and the group's executive editor.

He was also the group editor of ''Sinar Harian''.

He started his career in the media as a cadet reporter for ''Utusan Malaysia'' in April 1984.

In December 1989, Rozaid made history as the first Malaysian reporter to enter the tunnel built by members of the Malay Communist Party (MCP) along the Malaysia-Thailand border immediately after the signing of the peace agreement between MCP and the Malaysian government.
