Fisol Salleh is new Kedah police chief

ALOR STAR: Former Penang deputy police chief Datuk Fisol Salleh has today taken over the duty of Kedah police chief.

He is replacing Datuk Wan Hassan Wan Ahmad who has been appointed as Commissioner of Police in Bukit Aman's Management Department.

The handover ceremony, held at the state police headquarters was witnessed by the Federal police's Integrity and Standard Compliance director Datuk Seri Azri Ahmad.

Fisol, 56, who started his career in the police force in 1986, had served as the commander of the elite VAT 69 Commando unit, before assuming the post of Sarawak deputy commissioner in 2020.

He then assumed the post of Penang deputy police chief in 2021 prior to his promotion as Kedah police chief with the rank of Commissioner of Police.

Azri, in his speech congratulated Fisol on the promotion, adding that the Jitra-born senior cop's vast experience in various police departments would help to further strengthen Kedah police force's duty in safeguarding the state's security.

He also congratulated Wan Hassan for his excellent services in Kedah, in particular the latter's brainchild programme in enhancing integrity among policemen in the state.

"The pilot project initiated by Wan Hassan, which has reaped positive outcomes in Kedah, has been expanded to the police force nationwide with Selangor police contingent adapting the programme beginning June 1.

"This proved the effectiveness of Wan Hassan's out-of-the-box approach in strengthening the integrity of the police force," Azri said in the speech.

Meanwhile, Wan Hassan thanked the Kedah policemen for extending their fullest cooperation throughout his 17 months' service in the contingent.

He expressed his full confidence on Fisol's vast operational and administrative experiences in the force to bring Kedah police contingent to greater heights.

He urged the personnel to extend their fullest support to Fisol in protecting the state's safety and security.
