#Elmina plane crash: Aircraft equipped with voice recorder, no flight data recorder says IGP

SHAH ALAM: The aircraft that crashed in Elmina, here only contained a Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) and no Flight Data Recorder (FDR) said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.

"Our investigation found that the aircraft of this type has only a CVR and no FDR.

"When we checked with the Air Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), this aircraft only had the CVR. Some other light aircrafts also do not have these data recorders.

"This (CVR) was recovered at 10.20pm last night and it is with the AAIB," he said.

"The search operations here is 95 per cent complete and we plan to finish it by this afternoon.

"So far, we have recovered all human remains of the victims and have sent them to Hospital Tuanku Ampuan Rahimah (HTAR), Klang for post-mortem.

"We also found 21 personal belongings from the site," he said during the press conference.

He also added that their investigation found that the e-hailing driver which was killed in the crash had no passengers.

"We checked with the e-hailing company that the driver had rejected his passenger earlier and we believe that driver was alone."

He also called the public with any dashcam footages of the incident to come forward and assist with the investigation.

Razarudin earlier arrived at the scene to inspect the progress of the crash site together with Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan.

Yesterday, the six-seater Beechcraft Model 390 (Premier 1) bearing the registration number N28JV had crashed near Elmina, Shah Alam during its approach into Subang Airport from Langkawi.

The crash had killed all eight people onboard and two road users in the incident.
