KUALA LUMPUR: Former Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah has returned to the Endocrine Institute of Putrajaya Hospital.
In a Facebook post yesterday (Oct 3), he announced his schedule, stating that he will be performing surgeries every Monday and conducting clinical consultations every Tuesday.
Dr Noor Hisham expressed his hope that the institute would contribute to strengthening endocrine surgery and treatment efforts on a national scale, aiming to achieve international standards of excellence. Endocrine surgery primarily deals with the thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal glands of the body.
He went on to describe the facilities at the institute, noting that it is located in a 10-story building with 220 beds, including 10 beds in the adult intensive care unit and eight beds for paediatric patients. The institute also boasts a state-of-the-art hybrid neuro-endocrine operating theatre (OT) along with four other OTs.
Dr Noor Hisham, who is an accomplished endocrine surgeon, originally joined the hospital in 2002, taking on the role of head and senior consultant of breast and endocrine surgery. He officially retired as the Health director-general on April 19.
