KUALA LUMPUR: The government will fast-track the implementation of the Pan Borneo Highway project in Sabah which is lagging behind as compared to Sarawak.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said he instructed the Finance Ministry to disburse the funds as long as it has passed the pre-qualification of the tender process.
"The allocation is there. This was promised for the people of Sabah and Sarawak.
"During the Kembara Kenali Borneo tour by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, people complained about road conditions.
"Allocation has been channeled towards this but the implementation is slow," he said in reply to a supplementary question by Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal ( Warisan- Semporna) during Prime Minister's question time today.
Anwar was also asked about the water management issues due to the mismanagement of funds, which is affecting water supply in certain parts of Sabah.
"In certain aspects, Insya Allah, I will present about it this Friday.
"But about leakages, we have to be strict. We cannot tolerate it as we want no more leakages," said Anwar.
