Kelantan police issues summonses to 51 foreigners for breaching traffic rules

KOTA BARU: Kelantan police have issued summonses to 51 foreigners for various traffic offences in a six-day operation carried out statewide.

State police chief Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun said the operation, codenamed 'Op Khas Warganegara Asing' began on Oct 3.

He said the offences included driving without licences, vehicles with expired roadtax and failing to wear helmets.

"During the operation, police inspected 155 foreigners.

"The foreigners were from several countries with the majority of them were from Thailand.

"After inspecting the 155, 51 were found to have violated traffic regulations," he said in a statement.

On a separate note, he said state police have launched another special operation codenamed Ops Khas Perdagangan starting from Sept 22 to Oct 8.

He said the operation involved more than 60 traffic policemen from all districts in Kelantan.

During the operation, he said 379 summonses were issued to commercial vehicles for various offences.
