Water supply back to normal by midnight as WTPs at over 60 per cent recovery

KUALA LUMPUR: The recovery status due to the temporary shutdown of the affected Sungai Selangor Phase 1, Phase 2, Phase 3, and Rantau Panjang Water Treatment Plants (WTPs) following odour pollution now stands at 67 per cent. This was reported as of 6am today.

In a statement, Air Selangor said that efforts to restore normal water supply are well underway, and it is anticipated that consumers in these areas will have their water fully restored by 12am on Oct 12, 2023.

It has urged consumers residing in the affected areas to be patient and let their taps run until the water runs clear before using it.

"Air Selangor hopes that consumers who have received water supply will use water prudently to ensure that the recovery process in the affected areas runs smoothly."

Meanwhile, Air Selangor also updated that asset upgrading, maintenance and replacement works at the Sungai Langat Water Treatment Plant have been completed.

It stated that despite successful completion of these works, a minor technical issue was encountered on site but they are working to solve it.

"Clean and safe treated water supply has been distributed through alternative sources in stages to consumers.

"The duration for full water supply recovery may vary depending on the location and distance from consumers' premises.

However, it is expected that the restoration will be completed by 12pm on Oct 12, 2023," Air Selangor added.
