Boy, 8, rescued from Pulai flat in stable condition after abuse

JOHOR BARU: An eight-year-old boy who was a victim of abuse and was rescued from a flat in Pulai last Friday, is currently in stable condition.

Iskandar Puteri district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Rahmat Ariffin, said that the child was still receiving treatment at the hospital.

At the moment, the police are conducting an investigation into the case.

"Any developments regarding further actions, including the detention of the two suspects, namely the father of the victim and his female companion, will be determined this evening or in the near future," he said when contacted today.

Meanwhile, Johor Baru Department of Social Welfare officer, Adnan Md Yassin, said that a two-year-old girl, believed to be the biological child of the female suspect who lived in the same flat as the victim, was placed under the care of the family.

"The child is not involved in the abuse case and is placed under the care of the family," he said when contacted.

Yesterday, Harian Metro reported on the case of an abused boy, 8, who was discovered in a weakened condition, naked and confined in the bathroom of his family's home in Pulai on Friday.

A 37-year-old man and his girlfriend have been detained to assist in the investigation.

The complainant, a woman, reported receiving information that the malnourished and weak boy was in a bathroom.

The suspects, the father and his girlfriend, aged 39, were arrested and remanded from Oct 13 to Oct 18.
