Langkawi records 2.04 million visitors up to third quarter of 2023 

LANGKAWI: The island of Langkawi has recorded a total 2.04 million visitors as at the third quarter of this year, with most of the visitors domestic holidaymakers embracing the "Now is the time to Cuti-Cuti Malaysia" campaign. 

Langkawi Development Authority (Lada) deputy chief executive officer (management) Ahmad Fuad Che Ani @ Abd Ghani said the agency was confident that the island would meet its target of attracting three million visitors by year end.

"All the stakeholders in Langkawi's tourism sector are carrying out even more aggressive campaigns to achieve the target of attracting at least three million visitors by the end of this December. 

"A total of 15 events will be held between November and December, among others the Langkawi Geopark Enduro Challenge 2023 on Nov 12; Langkawi International Half Marathon 2023 (Dec 2) and Langkawi International Folk Fest 2023 (Dec 29-31)," he told reporters after the prize giving ceremony for Lada northern Paintball Super League at Langkawi Sports Complex here today.

Fuad added that the international level paintball competition which is in its second year has attracted 800 local and foreign participants.

"Besides local teams, there are also foreign participants from Singapore, Taiwan and Australia," he said. 

For this year's edition, the Mambang di Awan team from Kuala Lumpur emerged as the overall champions, defeating 56 other teams competing in five divisions- open, trio, mechanical, women and rookies with total prizes of RM60,000.
