No internal rift in Perlis Pas, but 'one or two' PN reps enjoy taking jabs at state govt- MB

ARAU: Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli has brushed off Perlis Bersatu chief's claims that there is an internal revolt in Perlis Pas that has created an unhealthy environment in the state Perikatan Nasional leadership.

Shukri, who is also Perlis Pas commissioner and state PN chairman, however, acknowledged that 'one or two' elected representatives in the coalition are "enjoying time taking jabs at the state government."

"There is no rift in the Perlis Pas leadership but there are one or two who got excited after winning, (being elected as assemblymen) and seemed to be enjoying time 'taking a jab' at the state administration as if they want to bring down this government.

"In general, there are no such 'traitors' because we as the PN elected representatives are still working together in harmony, in fact the meetings are also held as a team as the state administrators," he said when contacted today.

Shukri also denied that there is any movement among assemblymen in the coalition who are hatching a plan to leave or cross over to the other side of the political divide since the Perlis state assembly has approved an amendment to the state Constitution banning an elected representative from doing so.

He was responding to Perlis Bersatu chief Abu Bakar Hamzah's claims that there is an unhealthy environment in the state PN coalition following an internal rift in the state Pas leadership.

Abu Bakar, who is also Kuala Perlis assemblyman and the state PN vice chairman 1 was reported by a news portal claiming that the internal trouble in Perlis Pas created disharmony in the state coalition.

The internal rift is said to be concerning Islamic religious matters and state administrative matters.

Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang in his winding up speech at the Pas annual general assembly in Selangor on Sunday, reminded Pas members against betraying the party by doing things that may bring down the state governments under Pas rule.

Hadi was reported as saying that although there are weaknesses in the state governments led by the party, all members should work together to fix the shortcomings instead of exposing it to the opposing parties.
