Turkiye, Malaysia relations will grow from strength to strength

KUALA LUMPUR: Turkiye believes that Malaysia can play a significant role to realise Ankara's 'Asia Anew' policy in 2019 as both countries are considered pivotal in their respective regions.

"The policy aims to 're-identify' this region with Turkiye under the ever evolving circumstances in the 21st century. Malaysia, at the heart of Asia, is clearly destined and capable of playing its part in this century.

"Its highly educated young population and strong infrastructure is the guarantee of her future success", said Emir Salim Yuksel, Turkiye Ambassador to Malaysia.

He highlighted the move by both countries to elevate relations to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership level last year as showing a close Turkiye, Malaysia connections.

Emir Salim spoke during the 100th year Turkiye anniversary celebration here, yesterday.

Among those in attendance include Minister of Defence, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar, senior military and government officers, ambassadors and corporate figures.

Further evidence of positive ties was the visit of Malaysia's King and Queen in 2022 and Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim visiting Turkiye twice this year.

Emir Salim also points to the increase volume in trade and the number of tourists as proof of an effective commercial mechanisms establish between Kuala Lumpur and Ankara apart from the solidarity shown by Malaysia post February 6 earthquakes in Turkiye.
