Chaos on Kuala Lumpur-Karak Highway: Trees topple, lanes close amid heavy rain

KUALA LUMPUR: Heavy rain and strong winds led to multiple incidents of trees toppling along the Kuala Lumpur - Karak Highway, causing disruptions in the evening hours today.

These incidents were reported to have occurred around 6pm, affecting the stretch at Kilometer (KM) 44.8 while heading toward Kuala Lumpur from Bukit Tinggi to Genting Sempah, resulting in the closure of the slow lane.

Fallen trees were also reported at KM46.5, affecting the route to Kuantan from Genting Sempah to Bukit Tinggi, leading to blockages in all lanes.

Concessionaire Anih Bhd, via the X platform, informed the public about similar incidents occurring at KM51.9 on the route to Kuantan from Bukit Tinggi to Lentang, which resulted in the closure of both the emergency lane and the slow lane.

Furthermore, tree fall incidents were detected at KM65.8 heading to Kuantan (Bentong to Karak), with the emergency and slow lanes obstructed.

Anih personnel promptly conducted cleanup operations at these affected locations, successfully reopening all previously obstructed lanes to vehicle traffic by 7pm on the same evening.
