RM10m transactions, 1 million visitors targetted at at rural entrepreneurs carnival

Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun said over 1,000 rural entrepreneurs, comprised hawkers and petty traders would participate in the four-day event.

He said a majority of them were under the categories of food and beverages; fashion, craft and agriculture.

"The target group for this programme are rural entrepreneurs seeking guidance from the ministry, agencies and others rural enterprises.

"The programme also includes the participation of divisions under the ministry and agencies that offer enterpreneurial empowerment and financing programmes for these entrepreneurs," he said at the pre-launch of KUD @Putrajaya held at Sri Pentas today.

Ramlan said among the activities include an exhibition by agencies under the ministry and companies focused on entrepreneurship, education and facilities related to the industry.

Other attractions, he said, included Forum Perdana Ehwal Islam with panellists comprising religious preachers Harryanto Rizal Rokman, Dr Mohd Erfino Johari, Datuk Dr Zahazan Mohamed; nasyid performances by Rabbani, Unic, InTeam and Daqmi; a mini Orang Asli village and esports competition.

He said 10 agencies participating in the carnival are Majlis Amanah Rakyat , the Rubber Industry Smallholders Development Authority, Department of Community Development, Felcra Bhd, Central Terengganu Development Authority, Orang Asli Development Department, Penang Regional Development Authority, South Kelantan Development Authority, Kedah Regional Development Authority and Southeast Johor Development Authority.

Also present were Media Prima group chairman Datuk Seri Dr Syed Hussian Aljunid, the New Straits Times Press (Malaysia) Bhd (NSTP) group managing editor Datuk Ahmad Zaini Kamaruzzaman and Media Prima Audio (MPA) chief executive officer Nazri Noran.
