GSPP: Malaysia should not support evacuation of Palestinians from Gaza, deems it haram

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia should not support the evacuation of Palestinians from Gaza as it is haram, says Gabungan Solidariti Pembebasan Palestin (GSPP).

GSPP board member Ismail Mina said it was haram for Muslims to "sell" their land to non-Muslims during war.

He was responding to a viral video of Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution in Parliament saying that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was engaging with other leaders to bring Palestinians out from Gaza.

"The Madani leaders should retract their statement to take Palestinians out from Gaza and to place them in Sinai because it is haram to evacuate a group from their native land.

"It is also haram for Muslims to sell their land to non-Muslims," he said in a media conference, here, today.

Ismail said that Malaysia should not support the two-state solution as, according to Islam, even if land is sold legally, it should eternally remain the property of the Muslims.

"This is not an issue of the 1967 or 1917 border but even before that.. the land was stolen (from Palestine)" he added.

He added that Anwar should be more vocal and have the moral and intellectual strength to voice out Palestinian rights in international forums including the United Nations Security Council and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.

Meanwhile, GSPP chairman Muhammad Fauzi Asmuni said since there had not been any response or rebuttals from the government in response to Saifuddin's video, it meant that the government was indeed trying to bring out Palestinians from Gaza.

Malaysia, he said, should not be afraid of any economical threats when voicing Malaysia's stance as Malaysia was a country rich in resources which could stand on its own.
