iKAF to send humanitarian aid to Gaza

KUALA LUMPUR: Local non-governmental organisation (NGO) International Khayr Ummah Foundation (iKAF) will be sending humanitarian aid to Gaza soon.

The volunteer group headed by its chairman Datuk Dr Fathul Bari Mat Jahya arrived in Cairo on Nov 13 in order to provide necessary assistance to the displaced victims including medicine and winter-clothing needs.

The aid will be sent through the Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC) under the 'Humanitarian Mission 4 Palestine' (i4P) with purchasing of the aid goods done in Cairo before being sent to Gaza via the Rafah border crossing.

"We are targeting medical aid and relief especially for children. We are trying with the cooperation of ERC under its chief executive officer, Dr Ramy El Nazer.

"Insha Allah, this evening we will get a full list of necessary items that's available in the market within two days and we will deliver through the Rafah border," he said today.

Dr Ramy thanked iKAF for their assistance and assured full cooperation to distribute the aid from Malaysia.

"We (ERC) will be here to guide and support humanitarian assistance in Gaza. God bless you all for your efforts to help Palestinians in Gaza," he said.

The i4P volunteers paid an honorary visit to Malaysian Ambassador to Egypt Zamani Ismail to inform him about the plan and progress of the humanitarian mission.

Depending on the situation, the i4P Mission is scheduled to send the emergency aid to the Rafah or Ismailiya borders this Friday, in collaboration with the ERC, said through a statement.

Thousands including women and children have died while others were displaced from their homes in Gaza after attacks from Israeli forces since last month.
