Jakim inks MoU on development of halal-related fields

KUALA LUMPUR: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the development of halal-related fields was signed by the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) during the 20th Informal Meeting of the Ministers of Religion of Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore (MABIMS) held in Singapore yesterday (November 16).

The memorandum, among other things, involved the sharing of information and expertise on halal certification, as well as the exchange of research and studies on syariah, science and technical aspects.

This was informed through a joint statement issued by the Malaysian Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs); the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Brunei Darussalam; the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Indonesia and the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore, last night.

According to the statement, also launched was a book jointly published by MABIMS member countries called 'Tafsir lImi (Ayat-Ayat Kauniyyat)', which invites the public to look to the Quran as a source of guidance and inspiration for the progress of the people and human civilisation.

"This publication is themed on the creation of the world that describes the power, beauty and majesty of Allah SWT, from the perspective of the Al-Quran," read the statement.

It also said Malaysia would be hosting the next MABIMS meeting in 2025. – Bernama
