KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia condemns in the strongest terms the storming of the al-Shifa Medical Hospital and attack on the Jordanian Field Hospital by the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF).
Wisma Putra said in a statement Israel's decision to storm these hospitals demonstrates blatant disregard of international pleas and humanitarian norms.
Malaysia, it said, had also urged the international community to demand that the Israeli regime stop these inhumane actions against the people of Palestine.
"Malaysia stands firm in our principled position that the Palestinians deserve their own independent and sovereign state, based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
"Israel's continued assaults targeting civilians and health infrastructures are completely unacceptable and a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law, specifically the Geneva Conventions of 1949.
"The unjustified presence of IOF personnel in the hospitals poses an additional threat to those in urgent need of medical treatment and staff at these civilian facilities," it said.
It added that the international community has the obligation to ensure hospitals and other civilian infrastructures are protected and safe.
