Biden believes Israel and Hamas to engage in release of hostage negotiations soon

KUALA LUMPUR: United States President Joe Biden believes that Israel and Hamas will soon engage in negotiations for the release of hostages.

American broadcast television network, NBC News reported that Biden, during the White House turkey pardoning ceremony, said he believed that a hostage deal would come soon.

"I believe so," he said when asked by a reporter if a deal is near to release hostages taken by Hamas.

When asked again if he believed so, Biden responded with fingers crossed and said, "Yes".

The New York Times reported that Hamas has taken roughly 240 people during the October 7's attack.

A few of them have been released or rescued. Entering its seventh week, Israel's attacks on Palestine show no sign of abating.

This is despite continuous pressure from countries, including Malaysia, for an immediate ceasefire to the daily attacks which have reportedly claimed some 13,000 lives.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, however, is adamant that he would only stop once all of Hamas fighters, including those situated outside of Gaza, are dead.
