Senior citizen dies after motorcycle plunges into ravine

KUALA PILAH: A senior citizen died after the motorcycle that he was riding plunged into a ravine near Kilometre 8 of Jalan Beting-Kampung Parit Tinggi here yesterday.

Kuala Pilah district police chief Superintendent Amran Mohd Gani said that the accident took place at around 7pm involving a Yamaha LC motorcycle ridden by the 70-year-old man.

"Initial investigations revealed that the accident happened while the senior citizen was believed to be coming from Kuala Pilah heading towards Kampung Parit Tinggi.

"When he approached the scene, it is believed that he lost control of the motorcycle and plunged into the ravine," he said in a statement.

Amran said the mototrcyclist died on the spot.

"Firemen from the Kuala Pilah and Seri Menanti Fire Station worked to bring the victim's body out from the ravine.

"The victim's remains were brought to the forensics unit of Hospital Kuala Pilah for post-mortem examination. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987," he said.
