After Coldplay, Pas MP wants Stars on Fire concert be called off

KUALA LUMPUR: An opposition member of parliament today has demanded the cancellation of the Stars on Fire concert, which is set to take place on Dec 1.

Abdul Latiff Abdul Rahman (PN-Kuala Krai) said that in light of the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict, the concert featuring Indian artistes was inappropriate and insensitive.

Earlier, he also wanted the cancellation of the Coldplay: Music of Spheres concert that was set to take place tonight.

According to Abdul Latiff, the Federal Territories Mufti (Dr Luqman Abdullah) had advised that the Coldplay concert be cancelled and that members of the public should abstain from supporting such performances, which are clearly against the morals and culture of the people in the country.

"The government should first shut all doors to immoral activities.

"Hence, I humbly ask the government to cancel both concerts," he said when debating the 2024 Supply Bill at the committee stage for the Communications and Digital Ministry.

Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan will lead an ensemble of Indian celebrities to entertain fans in Malaysia during the Stars on Fire Kuala Lumpur Concert at Bukit Jalil National Stadium on Dec 1.
