Viral video of collapsed road near Bentong tunnel is fake

BENTONG: The viral video showing a collapsed road in front of a tunnel entrance allegedly in Pahang is fake.

Bentong police chief Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar clarified that the incident in the video did not happen at the Genting Sempah tunnel located along the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Expressway.

"The video of the collapsed road had gone viral since last night. The video is not in Genting Sempah and believed to have originated from abroad.

"I hope everyone will stop spreading the fake video," he said in a statement today.

It is believed the video on the collapsed road had gone viral following the mud flood incident at Kampung Bukit Tinggi nearby yesterday which saw debris gushing down from the hill towards the lower section of Bukit Tinggi town, submerging vehicles, shops and houses.

The 9pm incident yesterday resulted in a crack along the trunk road from Genting Sempah to Janda baik and the stretch will be closed for five days, for repair works.
