Anti-smoking bill likely to be tabled in Parliament tomorrow - Dr Zaliha

KEMAMAN: The much anticipated Control of Smoking Products for Public Health Bill 2023 could be tabled in Parliament as early as tomorrow.

Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa assured that it will be tabled as soon as possible during the current Parliament session.

"God willing, the Bill will be tabled as soon as possible. If everything goes as planned (no issues), it will be tabled tomorrow... there will be amendments to the bill," she told reporters after visiting the Air Putih health clinic here today.

She was asked on the revised anti-smoking Bill, which is also dubbed the Generational Endgame (GEG) bill.

Dr Zaliha was previously quoted saying that the bill will be tabled before the end of the current Dewan Rakyat sitting, which ends on Nov 30.

The first version of the bill, which was named the "Control of Tobacco Products and Smoking Bill 2022", was tabled in Parliament in July last year.
