Maybank users fume as MAE app disruptions persist

KUALA LUMPUR: Continued disruptions since midday on Maybank's mobile banking application, MAE, have led disgruntled users to vent their frustrations on social media.

MAE users flooded social media platforms to complain about technical glitches which have hindered online banking transactions.

Several users also reported additional concerns, such as the disappearance of savings deposited under the 'tabung' function in the MAE app.

An X user, Haziq Hanz, voiced concern over his vanished savings.

"Phew, thought the money in the Maybank savings was lost. Turns out that it's a Maybank system problem. Sweating bullets!," he wrote.

SoonLye Lim, another Maybank user, voiced frustration with the MAE application, citing frequent technical problems.

"Having issue again for MAE! Now I'm standing in front of a restaurant because I didn't bring my wallet. I want to do QR Pay but can't," he wrote.

Another customer, Julia Goh said "Just loading all the time and cannot use (the app) at all. What happening again?" she said.

Maybank, via X, acknowledged the issue, stating that the disruption also affected its online banking service, Maybank2u.

However, the bank did not provide a timeline for resolving the problem.

Business Times has reached out to Maybank's spokesperson regarding the issue and is currently awaiting a response.
