Women's ministry teams up with i-City to offer RM8.4mil worth of discounted packages for family activities

KUALA LUMPUR: The Women, Family and Community Development Ministry is collaborating with i-City to offer discounted packages for family activities amounting to RM8.4 million.

Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said discounted packages for family activities during school holidays under the "One Shah Alam, One Destination" programme was part of the ministry's effort to foster a sense of family bonding in the community.

"The discounted family activity packages will benefit 100,000 Madani families in Malaysia, providing them with the opportunity to strengthen family ties by participating in family activities offered at i-City, including the newly-launched Immersive Winterland," she said in a statement today.

Recognising the challenge of educating children in today's fast-paced technological era, Nancy recommended that parents adopt educational approaches that were in tune with the advancements of the current times.

"The i-City initiative in launching Immersive Winterland aligns with the current trend of utilising technology in children's games and education that can be done together with the family to strengthen family relationships," she said.

Commenting on another issue, Nancy said that the ministry was consistently implementing programmes to strengthen family institutions through the National Population and Family Development Board (NPFDB).

"This includes the Family and Child Safety Education Program (Peka), aimed at increasing awareness of the need to monitor and control children's internet exposure," she added.

Subsidy rates for these discounted packages start from RM120 and will be available from Dec 1 until March 31 next year.
