Kemaman by-election: Muhyiddin being probed for alleged 3R statement

KEMAMAN: A police report has been lodged against former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin over his statement allegedly containing elements of 3R (religion, royalty and race) during a campaign for the Kemaman by-election.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said the report was filed against the Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman on Nov 29.

"Police have received a report against Muhyiddin following his statement at a ceramah during the Kemaman by-election campaign," he told reporters after visiting the SK Bukit Mentuk polling centre here today.

Police were also probing Muhyiddin over his statement during a political gathering for the Pulai by-election in September that was said to contain 3R elements.

Meanwhile, Ayob Khan said police have received 15 reports throughout the Kemaman by-election campaign period.

He also reminded all supporters to avoid holding any parades after the announcement of the by-election results tonight for security reasons.

"Action will be taken against those who participate or organise any parade. Policemen will be on the ground conducting continuous monitoring and will not hesitate to initiate action against those who fail to adhere to the law.

"Those caught trying to create trouble to disrupt harmony and pose a threat to public safety will face action," he said.

Also present was Terengganu police chief Datuk Mazli Mazlan and his deputy Wan Rukman Wan Hassan.

PN's Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar is currently engaged in a straight fight with Barisan Nasional's General (Rtd) Tan Sri Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamed Noor in Kemaman.

The by-election was called following the decision of the Terengganu Election Court on Sept 26 to annul the victory of Pas candidate Che Alias Hamid in the 15th general election.
