Pahang Barat Plus, ECERDC boost west Pahang development, says MB

KUANTAN: The Pahang government has set up the Pahang Barat Plus to boost the economy in the western part of the state and does not solely rely on the East Coast Economic Region Development Council (ECERDC).

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail (BN-Jelai) said Pahang Barat Plus was established in 2018, which was also the first year after he was appointed as the Pahang menteri besar.

"Yes, there appears to be more allocation for the east and middle section of Pahang but ECERDC has discussed several projects to be carried out in the western part of Pahang.

"However, the Pahang government does not only rely on ECERDC, and we established Pahang Barat Plus in 2018. Various projects have been discussed and will be carried out," he said when replying to a supplementary question from Datuk Mustapa Long (BN-Padang Tengku) at the Pahang state assembly sitting at Wisma Sri Pahang today.

Mustapa during the question and answer session had raised a question about more focus given to the east side of Pahang compared to the west side of the state, and the future projects planned for west Pahang.

Meanwhile, on an earlier question by Mustapa about the high impact projects executed by ECERDC across Pahang and the cost of the projects, Wan Rosdy replied the total cost was around RM4 billion, involving the tourism, manufacturing, infrastructure development, agribusiness and socioeconomic sectors.

Commenting on the status of the Lipis Waterfront, Wan Rosdy said the waterfront was among two mega projects proposed for Lipis and the Federal government has given its approval for the other projects which is the Lipis community college.
