Zayn Rayyan case: Autistic boy believed to have been murdered

SUNGAI BULOH: The case involving the death of six-year-old autistic boy Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin has been reclassified as murder.

This came about following the preliminary findings of a post-mortem examination conducted on the boy's remains today.

Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar confirmed that the preliminary forensics report from the Sungai Buloh Hospital indicated ligature marks on the victim's neck and body.

"Based on the post mortem report, there are elements of crime involved in the death of the boy.

"Police have reclassified the investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder," he said when contacted today.

Zayn Rayyan, an autistic boy reported missing on Tuesday afternoon in Damansara Damai, was found dead near a river close to his residence at 10pm yesterday.

The body of the six-year-old was discovered by a group of residents conducting a search operation.

The victim was found lying near the river, approximately 200 metres from his house at Apartment Idaman.

His mother, Ismanira Abdul Manaf, 28, had realised his disappearance when she could not find him after bringing groceries back to their walk-up apartment.
