From KL to Gaza: Msia's ongoing efforts to bring relief to Palestinians

KUALA LUMPUR: The first and second shipments of humanitarian aid for Palestinians have been successfully distributed, Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir said.

"We have received a report that two shipments of humanitarian aid we had previously sent had made their way into Gaza safely.

"It had arrived at its intended target, just as we had planned," he told reporters when met after the Friday prayers at the Federal Territory Mosque.

It was reported that the country's second shipment of humanitarian aid for Palestinians, weighing 16 tonnes, arrived in Gaza on Nov 11.

Meanwhile, the country's first shipment of humanitarian aid for Palestinians weighing 20 tonnes departed for Al-Arish International Airport, Egypt, early last month.

The cargo plane took off from the Cargo Terminal of Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) in Sepang.

The humanitarian aid was handed over to the Egyptian Red Crescent Society, acting as a partner to bring them into Gaza through the Rafah border.

Zambry added that a third sortie of humanitarian aid will be sent to Gaza on Dec 17.

Earlier this week, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the third shipment would be loaded with about 60 tonnes of humanitarian aid containing medical supplies, food, as well as items and supplies needed for babies.
