Establishment of MSDNg will improve N. Sembilan's statistical system governance

SEREMBAN: The establishment of the Negri Sembilan National Statistics and Data Council (MSDNg) and the District Data Statistics Council (MSDD) in the state will strengthen the governance of the state and district statistical systems, according to the Negri Sembilan Department of Statistics Malaysia.

In a statement today (December 8), it said that MSDNg serves as the primary agenda in efforts to strengthen the national statistical system (PSSN) through more effective coordination in providing data for formulating national development policies.

"The establishment of MSDNg can strengthen the current monitoring mechanism through the Negri Sembilan Development Plan 2021-2025 and improve the data culture in the evidence-based decision-making process.

"In addition, it acts as the supreme council at the state level in planning and determining the direction to strengthen the coordination of state and district statistics as well as draw up clear policies, strategies, and action plans so that the management of the state's official statistical system remains dynamic and relevant," according to the statement.

Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun today chaired the first meeting of the MSDNg, which consists of 63 members, including the Menteri Besar, state executive council members, the state secretary, the state financial officer, district officers, and federal and state department heads.

The MSDD, on the other hand, consists of district officers, assemblymen, mayors, municipal council presidents, as well as officials at the federal and state levels.

According to the statement, among the matters discussed in the meeting was the implementation of the Pangkalan Data Utama (Padu) system, which aims to collect household socio-economic information to help the government distribute subsidies and aid more effectively. — Bernama
