Anwar: Madani govt not a one man show

KUALA LUMPUR: The unity government's achievements are not the work of one minister, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

He said that the achievements recorded by each ministry is a reflection of the sheer effort put forward by the respective minister.

"Look at the ministries, MITI (Ministry of International Trade and Industry) for instance, it brought in billions of investment.

"The rice yield also increased from the pressure by the ministers and government agencies. "Exports of palm oil also increased and I was not involved directly, I only supported it.

"All is not done by one man named Anwar. It is impossible (one man could have done it)," he said during a dialogue session with visitors of Madani government's One-Year Anniversary Programme in Bukit Jalil National Stadium today.

He also stressed that the people needed to make a fair assessment of the achievements of the government according to the respective ministries.

"This would not have been possible without a solid and committed teamwork from all. "For instance this event was organised by the civil servants including the ministers, but it would not get the same publicity as PMX (10th Prime Minister)."

However, he said that the government will be taking steps to correct the narrative that it was the work of the Prime Minister alone.

"The ministers and respective ministries should publicise it.

"Only then they will understand that this is teamwork," he added.

Also present were Deputy Prime Ministers Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.
