PM Anwar: Madani One-Year Anniversary Programme to be expanded to other states

KUALA LUMPUR: The unity government will be expanding the Madani government's One-Year Anniversary Programme to other states.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said next month the programme will be held in Selangor.

He said that the programme at state level will showcase the achievements of the government so far.

"We have governed the country for one year and now we display the report to let people evaluate for themselves.

"The people can give their opinion and also provide suggestions.

"We can reuse the facilities to be displayed at other states' programmes.

"The Selangor Menteri Besar has agreed ..., (we) can do this at lower cost as we can use back the facilities but additional information from the respective state governments," he said during the closing ceremony of Madani government's One-Year Anniversary Programme in Bukit Jalil National Stadium today.

The prime minister said that such programmes opens the door for participatory and accountability democracy whereby the performance of each of the ministries can be evaluated by the people.

He said that no leaders will be spared from it and they should own their responsibilities.

"Not all are perfect or satisfactory, there is room for improvement but we now begin with a significant shift.

"This paradigm shift is moving on to new ways on order to benefit the people.

"The policies, initiatives are being shown to tell the people that these are not merely on paper but have been implemented," he said.

Also present were Deputy Prime Ministers Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.

Over 230,000 visitors thronged the three-day event held at the vicinity of the national stadium.

Aside from small and medium traders setting up their businesses, the visitors are also able to participate in various activities and exhibitions from each ministries.
