RTD officer injured after dept vehicle turns turtle in Temerloh

TEMERLOH: A Road Transport Department (RTD) officer was injured while two of his colleagues escaped unhurt after the four wheel drive vehicle they were travelling in turned turtle at Km152 of Jalan Kuala Lumpur - Kuantan near here today.

The 10.30am mishap occurred when the trio were travelling from Kuantan towards Kuala Lumpur.

Temerloh police chief Assistant Commissioner Mazlan Hassan said the three RTD officers were travelling in a Ford Ranger which belonged to the Temerloh RTD branch here.

"Initial investigations revealed the driver lost control of the wheel resulting in it crashing into a hillslope on the opposite side of the road. The vehicle turned turtle.

"The 45-year-old rear seat passenger suffered injuries and was taken to the Sultan Ahmad Shah Hospital here," he said in a statement.

Mazlan said the 34-year-old driver and his 56-year-old front seat passenger did not sustain any injuries.

He said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and police have recorded the driver's statement.
