KULAI: Seven modified cars for a car show which were ferried on a vehicle trailer were destroyed in a fire along KM38.1 of the Plus expressway (northbound), today.
The cars, including five Hondas, a Toyota Yaris, and a Proton Saga were modified with extravagant accessories and flashy paintwork, were on the car hauler towards Sepang for a car show, when it caught on fire at 4.52am.
Fire and Rescue Department operation commander Fauzi Che Deris said 25 personnel were despatched to the scene and the cars on the trailer sustained 70 per cent damages.
He said there were no casualties reported, as the driver managed to exit the trailer when he noticed the flames.
Investigations to establish the cause of the fire and estimated damages are underway.
Meanwhile in a separate incident in Johor Baru, a fire destroyed about 80 per cent of a five-tonne lorry along Jalan Kempas Lama, here, today.
There were no injuries reported in the 5.43am fire.
