Police investigating Papagomo over defamatory video

KUALA LUMPUR: The police are investigating controversial blogger Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris, popularly known as Papagomo, for his allegedly "disgraceful" statement against the Prime Minister.

His statement was made through a live video, uploaded to a 'Sir Azri' YouTube channel.

Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department Deputy Director (Investigation/Legal) Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said the over one-hour long video was titled "DSAI (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) Penyakit Misteri Tiada Penawar AIDS."

"The case is being investigated by the Classified Crime Investigation Unit's prosecution/legal division (D5), under Bukit Aman's Criminal Investigation Department.

"Investigation is being conducted in accordance with Section 14 of the Minor Offense Act 1955, Section 504 of the Penal Code, and Section 233 of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Act 1998," he said in a statement today.

Rusdi advised the public not to make any speculations or comments as it may disrupt investigations.

Meanwhile, he reminded the public not to misuse their social media platforms to make comments or manipulate issues to the point of touching matters pertaining to public order, moral principles, defamation, or inciting any offense.

"The police will take uncompromising measures against any party found doing such acts," he said.
