Kelantan cops receive 102 reports on flood damage to property

RANTAU PANJANG: Kelantan police have so far received 102 reports over damage to property caused by floods.

State police chief Datuk Mohamad Zaki Harun said these reports had been received since the first wave of floods to hit the state on Nov 21.

He said, apart from damaging to their homes, the victims also claimed that flood had damaged their crops.

"The majority had claimed that the wooden walls of their homes have collapsed. They lodged the reports so that they have proof if there is any assistance given by the government for flood victims," he told reporters when visiting flood victims at the SK Sri Rantau Panjang 2 temporary relief centre today.

During the visit, he handed over donations from the Kelantan police headquarters as well as from federal police headquarters in Bukit Aman to 286 flood victims.

Zaki said police had so far not received any report on house break-ins from flood victims.

"Our patrol cars will be monitoring areas affected by floods. This is to prevent unwanted incidents (such as burglaries) and also for the safety of the flood victims," he added.
