KUALA LUMPUR: A tyre from a KL Monorail train caught fire and fell onto the road near the Jalan Tun Razak station in Sentul today.
The Fire and Rescue Department said its Kuala Lumpur operations control centre received an emergency call at 12.57pm and despatched firemen to the scene.
"The operational team comprising five firemen from the Titiwangsa station responded to the call in a light fire rescue tender," it said in a statement.
Nooridzwan Mohamad Noor said upon arrival they notice a burnt tyre, believed to from the monorail, on the road.
"The fire was quickly extinguished using the water from the engine," he said, adding that no casualties were involved in the incident.
Nooridzwan said the cause of the fire was still under investigation.
