KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has commended media practitioners' pivotal role as indispensable chroniclers of the nation's history.

Recognising the challenges media professionals face in documenting the nation's narrative, Anwar expressed gratitude for their unwavering dedication despite numerous obstacles.

"Media has been a constant companion throughout my journey, from my early days as a politician to my current role as the prime minister.

"Undoubtedly, the pivotal role played by media practitioners as chroniclers of the nation's history cannot be overstated.

"Despite facing numerous challenges and life's complexities, their dedication remains unwavering," he said in a Facebook post.

Anwar also urged media practitioners to persist as vigilant eyes and attentive ears of the government, underscoring the significance of media in ensuring that the developmental agenda for both the people and the nation remains a top priority.

"In addressing the pressing issues of our diverse society and the government's policies, which have become the central focus of media reports, we must not forget that the issues faced by the people and the nation require the skillful pens of media practitioners to articulate them," he stated.

As the nation pursues progress and development, the prime minister reaffirmed the need for a robust partnership between the government and media to tackle the country's multifaceted issues.

Earlier today, Anwar held a "no holds barred" dialogue with senior editors from the country's electronic, print and online media.
