Police advise motorists visiting Kelantan to plan journey wisely

KOTA BARU: Motorists who plan to return to Kelantan in conjunction with the Christmas holiday, are advised to plan their journey wisely to avoid being stranded due to the floods.

State police chief Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun said there was an increase in the number of motorists in the state yesterday which indicated that those from outside the state have returned to Kelantan for their holidays.

"As usual, outside motorists will return to the state once there is a long holiday but as Kelantan is now hit by floods, the number of outside motorists was slightly less compared to before.

"I believe many decided to cancel their return due to the floods. But to those who still want to return, l would like to remind them to make a proper plan for their journey.

"This to prevent them from being stuck in difficult situation," he said.

Zaki added police, however, would conduct regular patrols at high-risk areas to prevent unwanted incidents.

On the flood situation, he said the third wave which began today was under control.

"Last night, heavy rains together with strong winds occured in several parts of the state.

"Praise be to God... no untoward incidents was reported," he added.
